Valencian Oak
Valencian Oak
Quercus Faginea
Here is a few reasons why we decided to plant Quercus Faginea - Valencian Oak
- Perfect for restoring the local ecosystem and natural habitat for a myriad of mammals, birds and insects.
- The acorns are a great food supplement for wild boars, squirrels, rabbits and smaller mammals.
- Wind resistant and a perfect wind barrier
- Semi-deciduous which means the trees lose their foliage for a very short period providing shelter for birds throughout the whole year.
*** Interesting fact or fable: It is believed that at some point in the history a barbary macaques from Gibraltar could hop from one tree onto another all the way to the Pyrenees without touching the ground. This is no longer the case since the Spanish Armada chopped down most of the oak and chestnut trees to build their fleet.
